Cowboys signed RB Washington after starter Barber got hurt

The Dallas Cowboys Tuesday move was to sign running back Chauncey Washington to their practice squad, probably as reserve for starting running back Marion Barber, who was hurt late in the fourth quarter of last Sunday's loss to the New York Giants.

The Cowboys also released fullback Julius Crosslin on Tuesday to make room on the practice squad for Washington. The move could be considered to have ruled out the possibility of Barber playing in formal dallas cowboys jersey for the next game. And the team did say on Monday that Barber has a quadriceps injury but did not reveal when he might return.

Washington, from USC, was drafted in 2008 seventh round by the Jacksonville Jaguars. He played six games for the Jaguars in 2008 season but had an unsatisfying performance, with only four carries for 9 yards and one catch for 9 yards.
