Steelers LB Timmons’ playing status for Sunday game is in doubt

As the Pittsburgh Steelers were in hope that outside linebacker Lawrence Timmons could play Sunday in Chicago, they disappointedly found that the sprained ankle still limited Timmons to partial practice.

As he recovers from the ankle sprain that occurred Aug. 22, Timmons practiced Wednesday, but failed to finish the workout and that made his playing status on Sunday night in doubt. He may some more time to take care of his ankle and stay on the Steelers’ injury report as having limited participation in practice along with wide receiver Limas Sweed.

Sweed’s status for Sunday is also uncertain since he developed a foot problem during practice. Tyrone Carter skipped Wednesday’s practice for personal reasons. The 10-year safety will be the replacement for the injured Troy Polamalu on Sunday in Chicago, where the Steelers were 1-11, winning only one in their last appearance in 1995.
