Eagles QB Vick was absent from public celebrations

The Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick has been unavailable to any other public celebrations since the shooting happened after his 30th birthday party last week. While he has not been cleared for being innocent, he seems determined to avoid any more troubles.

According reports, there should have been an “All White” celebration on Sunday in Washington, D.C. and Vick was expected to appear for the even in a No.4 Brett Favre jersey. However, he did not appear and the participants were informed that the party was canceled. Vick has to be careful at the moment, because there have been a lot of reports saying that the Eagles were considering releasing him if he caused more troubles off the field.

It’s hard for Vick to have a job in the league. When he was just released from the prison, no team but the Eagles made the bold move to offer him a contract. Although Vick used to say that he dislikes being a backup role with team, he still chose to stay there because the Eagles could still be the only team that is currently willing to give a job.

Jets DT Jenkins would like to see Vick playing in final exhibition

The New York Jets defensive tackle Kris Jenkins said on Tuesday that he was happy to see the Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick playing again on the field, in the teams’ preseason finale Thursday night.

“I’m kind of rooting for him because I hope he does realize that he does have a second chance and I’m hoping that he does prove everybody wrong,” Jenkins said Tuesday. “I’m hoping that he does show everybody what he’s capable of. I’ve known and seen him on and off the field and I definitely think he’s a good person at heart.”

The background is that Jenkins aced Vick several times when he was with the Carolina Panthers and Vick was with the Atlanta Falcons. Playing against each other again really sounded dramatic. Jenkins would not play as much as Vick on Thursday, so he would be glad to have time to spectate a little.

Former NFL coach continues to help others after retirement

It has been six month since Tony Dungy retired from his NFL career, but it is still too early for him to leave football world.

Dungy proved that his passion and vigor for football never faded by accepting a bigger challenge than winning games and rings-to help others. His tasks range from mentor Michael Vick after he was released from jail to advising high school athletes through an instructional movie. As a former football player in nfl jersey and coach of the league, his experience and distinction in football have made him a trustable mentor and friend to those who need help and advices for athlete career.

“It’s a chance for me to not necessarily just speak to 23 to 35-year-old football players,” Dungy said from his Florida home. “I talked at the Northwestern Mutual annual meeting and have spoken to junior high kids. It’s been exciting and the Vick thing has taken on a life of its own.”

The famous Vick case just proved that he was really the very person to take the mission. And now Dungy still enjoys the fast-paced life of football world and has been so busy that he turned down an appointment to President Barack Obama’s faith-based advisory council.

Packers GM does not rule Michael Vick out

Green Bay Packers general manager Ted Thompson said on Tuesday that the team will not rule out the scandal-tainted quarterback Michael Vick. But since Thompson is notoriously coy about the team's plans, it is still hard to judge from his comments whether the team have a sincere and significant level of interest in giving Vick chance of wearing packers jersey.

"What is the answer that we give to questions like this? We're always looking to improve our team," Thompson said. "We look at all options at all times. I wouldn't care to speculate in terms of the odds or the percentages (of signing Vick) or anything like that."

Thompson admitted that Vick is in unique situation but the team will just evaluate him in the same routine of evaluting other players. No matter whether the Packers are really interested in Vick, they are the first team showing such stance in public after Vick was conditionally reinstated to the NFL.
