The Seattle Seahawks activated the 2007 Pro Bowl cornerback Marcus Trufant from the physically-unable-to-perform list Friday after placing linebacker Lofa Tatupu on injured reserve.
Trufant practiced for the first time last week with the team since July, when a disk issue in his back began, and will play his first game of the season in Seahawks jersey on this Sunday at Dallas. He is expected by Coach Jim Mora to play mainly in nickel defensive alignments on passing downs against the Cowboys. The starting job will be shared by Josh Wilson and Ken Lucas again.
Trufant just returned in time to fill the spot left by Tatupu as the three-time Pro Bowl linebacker had a surgery this week to repair his torn left pectoral muscle and went on IR list.

Seahawks LB Tatupu may be able to return within season
Further tests on Monday indicated that the Seattle Seahawks star linebacker Lofa Tatupu’s injury is less severe than doctors evaluated on Sunday after Tatupu got hurt in Seattle’s 27-3 loss to the Arizona Cardinals.
According to Coach Jim Mora, further review and further imaging showed that the muscle and tendons do not look like completely detached from the bone and it is still premature to day the linebacker is done for the season. He also said team medical personnel are now examining Tatupu’s relatively healthy pectoral muscle on the right side, including with another magnetic resonance imaging test. They will compare it with images taken on the injured left one to further gauge how much damage the left pectoral sustained.
As the team’s co-captain, Tatupu must hope that he will be able to return during season. And if Monday’s results from the MRI are proven accurate, he will indeed be able to play in his Seahawks jersey again after a few weeks of rehabilitation. But at least he will miss the team’s next game following a bye weekend this week.

A torn left pectoral muscle will keep Seahawks MLB Tatupu out for season
After Sunday’s 27-3 loss to the Arizona Cardinals, the Seattle Seahawks Coach Jim Mora announced that middle linebacker Lofa Tatupu would miss the rest of the season with a torn left pectoral muscle.
The three-time Pro Bowler appeared to get hurt while tackling receiver Larry Fitzgerald in Cardinals jersey late in the second quarter. While he was walking off the field, he was holding his left chest area and his left arm appeared to be limp. According to Mora, Tatupu would have a surgery following the game.
Before leaving the field with the injury, Tatupu already had a team-high eight tackles against the Cardinals. He was replaced by second-year linebacker David Hawthrone after leaving the field. That was the second time this season Hawthrone had filled in for the Seahawks defensive captain.

LB Aaron Curry led in Seahawks’ 31-21 win over Raiders
In Thursday night’s preseason game against the Oakland Raiders, the Seattle Seahawks linebacker Aaron Curry showed off as the only starter on the Field and led the Seahawks to a 31-21 victory over the Raiders.
When it was just the first half, Curry made four tackles, two for losses, hit Oakland quarterbacks twice, then sacked one and forced a fumble to set up a field goal. And his wonderful performance was considered to be the most important development in Seahawks’ 31-21 victory.
This preseason finale victory was the Seahawks’ fourth preseason win and marked the team’s first preseason 4-0 in its 34-year history. And their rival team the Raiders finished the preseason 1-3.

Leg injury may keep Seahawks starting center Spencer out for preseason
The Seattle Seahawks won over the Denver Broncos by 27+13 on Saturday night, however, they also lost starting center Chris Spencer to leg injury, which may prevent the center from playing for the remaining days of preseason.
Spencer hurt his left quadriceps muscle in the second quarter of the preseason game and was taken to the locker room on a motorized cart. The team said that more tests needed to be taken to determine when Spencer could be back for playing with his teammates. But according to Coach Jim Mora, the injury was “the most serious” of assorted bumps and bruises and an MRI will be done on Sunday.
Another loss of starter after nine-time Pro Bowl left tackle Walter Jones left field with injured knee. Usual right tackle Sean Locklear replaced the 35-year-old veteran. However, the replacement’s performance was really not satisfying-he allowed two sacks and had a false-start penalty in Saturday’s preseason game against the Broncos.
