Steelers safety Polamalu plans to play against Vikings after returning to practice

After sitting out two days to rest his still-healing left knee, the Pittsburgh Steelers safety Troy Polamalu has returned to practice Friday and is planning to play in his No. 43 Steelers jersey against the unbeaten Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.

The five-time Pro Bowl safety tore the medial collateral ligament in his left knee on Sept. 10 when the Steelers were playing against the Tennessee Titans. Despite that he needed an additional week or two off to help the knee recover faster, he returned last Sunday and made an interception against the Cleveland Browns.

After missing practice Wednesday and Thursday, Polamalu practiced Friday with a knee brace, which the safety plans to wear on Sunday. Maybe he has learnt from the Cleveland game, before which he discarded the brace after going through pregame warm-ups, saying it restricted his running.
